The Millard Oakley Public Library will be closed on July 4 for the Independence Day Holiday.

A sincere thank you to our entertainers for June.  Mrs. Nicole and the Overton County 4-H, Ollie Otter, Livingston office of Overton County Farm Bureau, and State Trooper Jordan Danner have all provided information and entertainment for our summer readers.

Our Summer Reading Program entertainer on July 11 is a crowd favorite.  Bruce Amato will be here at 10:30 to entertain our young and not so young readers.

Our Library board will meet on Tuesday, July 16 at 4:30.

The Friends of the Library is a great group who support the library in so many ways.  They are always looking for new members, and the next meeting will be on July 18 at 4:30.  They will be planning for their next book sale, which will be on July 26 and 27.  On Friday, from 9:00 until 3:30, hardcover books will be $1.00, paperbacks will be $0.50.  From 3:30 until 5:00 on Friday, and 9:00 until 12:00 on Saturday, books will be $1.00 per bag.  There will be a limit of 25 bags per family.

The Friends of the Library also assist with memorial donations.  A donation can be made to the Friends of the Library.  They will then purchase books to place in our collection, complete with a book plate in the front of the book listing the names of the person it is in memory of, as well as the donor.  Recent memorial donations include donations in memory of Betty Alcorn, given by Jerry & Dorothy Escue, the Haywood High Class of 1958, and the Overton County Retired Teachers Association.

Donations have been given in memory of John & Betty Alcorn, given by Johnny, Juanita, Richard & Stephanie Brown, and David & Melinda Peterman & Sam, Anna Marie & Max Hilton.

A donation was made in memory of Mellean Bilbrey, given by Barbara Hunter.
