Standing Stone State Park’s snack bar is closed until further notice following a fire that occurred on Friday, June 6. Fortunately, the fire happened after operating hours, and no injuries were reported.
Local fire departments, including Allons Volunteer Fire Department, East 52 Volunteer Fire Department, and Fairgrounds Volunteer Fire Department, were dispatched to the report of a fire in the snack bar at the Standing Stone State Park pool. Quick actions by park rangers helped contain the fire with extinguishers before firefighters arrived. Firefighters then ensured the fire was fully under control.
While there was damage to the inside of the building no one was injured.
Park officials announced the closure of the snack bar due to the damage. However, the park’s pool will remain open to visitors. Due to the snack bar’s closure, all daily admissions and pool pass redemptions will now be handled at the main Visitor Center, located at 1674 Standing Stone Park Hwy, Hilham, TN. Visit the Standing Stone State Park Facebook page for new pool procedures.
Further information will be released as the situation evolves. Those needing more information can call the park’s Visitor Center at 931-823-6347.
