South Church Project Pushed Back

Posted

With anticipated harsh weather the South Church Project has been pushed back a few weeks. Livingston City Mayor and Engineer are hoping to start construction the first week of February.

The project will include adding better drainage, improved electric lines and phone/internet line, both of which will be running underground. They will also bring all areas to ADA compliance in the most practical ways.

They plan on starting on the west side and taking the project block by block completing all aspects of the project with the exception of paving, which will be done at the end of the project. Once the west side of the street is finished, they will go up the east side and do the same thing.

Currently the Mayor and UCEMC are not anticipating major power outages. The notable exception would be once the construction reaches the Post Office, there may have to cut power to the Post Office for a few hours.

Mayor Curtis Hayes expressed the area will be something to be proud of once it is finished, but also warned the Courthouse Landscaping Project may go on simultaneously.

As stated before, the project is at the mercy of the weather, so keep an eye on the Livingston Enterprise’s Facebook page for day-to-day updates.
