The Livingston Police Department (LPD) is proud to announce the addition of School Resource Officer (SRO) Drannon Blake Moon to its esteemed Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. SRO Moon joins the team, bringing a deep commitment to youth outreach and community service.

The announcement was made on behalf of SRO Sgt. Terry and the Livingston Police Department. “We are proud to extend a warm welcome to SRO Moon as the newest member of our D.A.R.E. program,” the department stated. “SRO Moon brings dedication and a commitment to youth outreach that aligns perfectly with the mission of the D.A.R.E. program. We are confident that SRO Moon will continue to build upon the strong foundation laid by the Livingston Police Department, fostering positive relationships with students and promoting safe, healthy decision-making in our community.”

SRO Moon is a 2009 graduate of Livingston Academy, where his early involvement in sports helped instill the values of sportsmanship, dedication and a strong work ethic - qualities that are crucial for a successful police officer.

His colleagues note that he embodies the essential qualities of a good officer, including empathy, sound judgment, adaptability and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

SRO Moon’s connection to the D.A.R.E. program began in his own childhood. “I remember being part of the D.A.R.E. program as a kid,” he recalled. “It helped me form a respect for the officers’ empathy to work with kids from an early age.”

His decision to enter public service was deeply personal. “Becoming a father helped me make the decision to go into public service,” SRO Moon shared. “I have always loved helping others, but fatherhood gave me the extra push to go the extra step.”

SRO Moon and his wife, Kate, have been married for 12 years and reside in Livingston with their six children. His family life and personal experiences have fueled his passion for serving and protecting the community’s youth.

The D.A.R.E. program, or Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is an international educational initiative founded in Los Angeles in 1983. It aims to teach children about the dangers of drug use and violence, with police officers leading lessons and activities to help students resist harmful substances and make positive choices.

The Livingston Police Department is located at 900 N Church St, Livingston, TN 38570. For more information, you can contact the department at 931-823-6496.
