Choice Health Network Is partnering with Homeless Advocacy for Rural Tennessee To conduct the Annual Point in Time Homeless Count in Overton County!

Posted

In an attempt to end Homelessness, HUD has tasked Continuums of Care to conduct a count of families/individuals experiencing homelessness on January 23, 2024 – all across America. This count is designed to provide a snapshot of each region’s sheltered and unsheltered homeless populations. This vital information is used to assess need and to help leverage resources to prevent and end homelessness throughout each community.

Homeless Advocacy for Rural Tennessee (HART) serves 18 counties including: Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Morgan, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Roane, Scott, Smith, Van Buren, Warren, White, and Wilson.

HART, in partnership with Connie Garret, is coordinating a street count of homeless individuals to be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Local volunteers and social service agency staff will go into the community to gather information on the homeless population. Your help is needed and appreciated in this community effort.

So, how can you help? If you are able to help count those living on the street, in their vehicle, tent, or other place not meant for human habitation; OR, simply can provide us with information on where they might be expected on the night of January 23rd, please contact us. Your help is crucial to the accuracy and success of this count. Please contact contact information for your organization.
